Michael Jackson – 1 Year Later

Posted By The Architect | June 25th, 2010 at 5:01 pm

It’s been a full year since Michael’s untimely passing and it still sucks as much as it did that day. The one positive at the time was the MJ-mania resurgence that took place immediately following his death. I never got tired of hearing his songs on the radio¬† (especially some of the less often played ones) and it was great to be able to rock extended MJ sets in the club and have people lose their minds to it like you were dropping the biggest hits of the moment. I wish that buzz could have lasted forever.

I’ll be playing tribute sets to start and close the night tonight at Butterfield 8 in Stamford. Stop in and party to some of the greatest music ever made.

Here’s an edit I made throwing the “ABC” acappella over the Justa Rock Roots Edit, plus some drums underneath.

Guru Rest In Peace

RIP shout outs to celebrities you never met are pretty lame, unless of course that celebrity influenced you in some way or you just straight up respect them. I got much respect for Guru, a true MC with so many quotables. 90’s hip-hop has been and always will be my thing and Guru was the essence of 90’s hip-hop. Rest In Peace.

Lil Jon Rocking The Architect DJ Davey B’s Suavemente Edit At LIV WMC 2010

Posted By The Architect | March 29th, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Just got back from Miami and wrapped up another year at the Winter Music Conference. Unfortunately, I don’t take many pictures or video so I don’t have much to show from it, but here’s something. This video was taken Friday night at the SKAM Takeover party at LIV in the Fontainbleau Hotel. Lil Jon did his thing, wasn’t sure what to expect from him as a DJ, but he put together a semi-eclectic set that catered right to the LIV crowd. He gets my approval and I’m glad he’s rocking the edits I sent him. Seeing him sing along to his own parts where I sampled him in the track was priceless.

You know the drill by now. Hitting a little bit of everything within the top 40 world, Chris Brown & Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys, Black Eyed Peas, LMFAO, Run DMC, Drake, etc. And that hipster-pop La Roux song (“Bulletproof”) that I tried working in my rotation when it came out last year but is just now being played on top 40 radio all of a sudden. Better late than never. Sure beats playing Lady Gaga’s entire catalog every night. Oh yea, there’s a remix of “Telephone” in the mix as well.

K104.7 FM Hit Mix 2/5/10

Posted By The Architect | February 6th, 2010 at 5:11 pm

This week’s hit mix leans a lot more towards the poppy side of things. A fun mix of Miley, Beyonce, Sean Paul, Rihanna, The Ting Tings, Kesha, Kid Sister, The Rapture, and a dope new house mix of a guilty pleasure from the 90’s to cap off the show.
